Five Guys Burgers

A while back a reader let me know that Five Guys Burgers was coming to Florence. I had a call that they were open last night and giving away free food, so I headed straight there. Only problem? They were not actually “open” and they were not actually giving away “free food.” What happened is that they were having a limited opening for family and friends, and those people had these lovely invitations. Apparently people started gathering to check out the new place, none of whom had invitations. The owner, in his infinite wisdom, decided just to open it up to the public– free food for everyone!

I am not even kidding!

Can you believe that? He stood and greeted people, invited people in, laughed at the huge crowd. The poor staff was SLAMMED and yet they were all smiling and happy– and the food was getting made in record time. I have never quite seen anything like this.

They ran out of bacon (no surprise there) so I had a regular cheeseburger, fries, and a drink. Everything was great, but after seeing someone’s hot dog, I wanted that instead. I guess I will actually have to pay to have one of those.

Although I really want more locally owned non-franchise restaurants in town, I am always happy when something new and good comes to us. This will be a perfect place to take kids, to grab a quick dinner that is not fast food, and to have lunch. It joins the small restaurant row they have in the Florence mall parking lot now– Moes, Shane’s Rib Shack, and Five Guys.

Remember to tell them you read about it on theflossip.com!! Thanks for reading!

I took my boys to eat there tonight & we had a wonderful experience- YUMMY… I do wish they had more for little kiddos- they do have grilled cheese and of course burgers… but my burger was awesome! The grilled mushrooms & onions were a super addition… service was great & they were packed!
