One can either HAVE character or BE a character. When I think of those that are characters, I immediately think of the woman that plays Sandra Bullock’s mom in “Hope Floats.” I absolutely LOVE that nutty woman. I don’t have enough spunk to be a character, I don’t think. My grandmother was a character, in so many wonderful ways. People talk about her and tell tales about her with a twinkle of delight in their eyes and fondness in their voice.
This article “How to be a local Character” cracks me up, but they missed the most interesting and arguably most important local character: The Eccentric Southern Woman. Where is she in their list? She is in every movie ever made about the South. Hello, Ouiser Boudreaux
anyone? I always wanted to have a little more Ouiser in me.
