Hey guys and girls,
Flossette here! Sorry for the lack of posts recently. I’ve had midterms at school the past few weeks and been quite preoccupied! I hope everyone is enjoying this GORGEOUS weather! I know I am! The fact that FMU is on the way to the beach has caused the Flossette to keep driving away from FMU! Ha! Don’t worry though, I never gave in! :)

I always get annoyed when I get hungry at school. I am not a big fan of the cafeteria, and the Grille is too expensive but on the other hand, Subway & Wendys can get old. QUICK. I feel like there are no real decent places to eat near campus and that’s no good! A week or so ago, I decided to try luck on a little place I’ve always passed and never stopped: The Sunrise Drive-In. It is so homey, very good if you’re in a hurry and their onion rings sure won’t let down either!

What are your favorite lunch spots in Florence?

Try the Hamburger steak at Sunrise- I think it’s the best in Florence!!! If you watch closely, you will see the same 2 ladies at the same booth around the same time everynight!!! That’s what I like about Sunrise!

I was at FMU for 4 years and never tried Sunrise. Half the time I didn’t realize it was still open. I frequented the UC Cafe (the predecessor to the Grille), that Subway across the road, Cici’s and the Taco Bell that closed down out there. Also, El Toril is always good =).

And who can forget about Soul Food Wednesdays at FMU- gotta love fried chicken (well, I liked it when I ate meat), mac & cheese, black eyed peas and rice, and those awesome cookies/cakes for dessert!

But here’s a good lunch suggestion… new buffet at Old Europe for lunch. It’s like $5.99. Cheaper than Cici’s even and probably 100x better. I’m planning to try that sometime next week…

AL– I am going to have to post about the Old Europe buffet– it is my very favorite thing! Such a good deal and such good food!

I love to grab some sushi from Sakura’s. It is great that is just across the street from the church. I used to grab stuff at Old Europe when we first moved here but have not been in awhile. I’ll have to try the buffet. If you are looking for some amazing take-out Chinese, you can’t beat Bamboo Garden for the price. It is next to the BILO on Pamplico.

I wanted to add an item to the calendar for May 26 at 7 pm–”Another Night on Broadway” $50/person. This is a benefit and ALL proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. It is an encore of last years Night on Broadway which received rave reviews. The show at the Florence Little Theatre features performances by local talent including some of the Lake City Playhouse and Florence Little Theatre headliners. The event also includes a dessert reception in the FLT courtyard. I heard about this from Kaye Floyd-Parris (667-0041) who is selling tickets; tickets can be had be contacting the Realtors Association at 665-2242
