I received an email that today is the anniversary of the death of Joey Rodgers. Those of you that are not familiar with Deputy Rodgers, he

“Paid the Ultimate Sacrifice on 4-9-97 Deputy Rodgers was shot and killed by a murder suspect after he responded to a call that the suspect had been sighted. The suspect, who had committed a double-murder two days prior, shot and killed Deputy Rodgers when he arrived on the scene. The suspect then stole his cruiser and began to leave the scene but was stopped at the end of the road by another deputy and a state trooper. As the suspect jumped out of the cruiser the two officers opened fire, killing him. Both officers received awards for their heroism. Deputy Rodgers leaves behind his fiancee, parents, brother, sister-in-law, nephews, and many dear family, friends, and devoted co-workers.”

Everyone thank your local law enforcement officers today, they put their life on the line every day to make Florence County a better place to live.

Remember to tell them you read about it on theflossip.com!! Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the post about Joey. We should all remember the price he paid to keep our community safe and we should be thankful for all law enforcement.
