There is an article in the paper about a meeting tonight for the “first statewide virtual charter school.”
On one hand it sounds really awkward, but on the other hand it has appeal. I can envision that it might work for kids that don’t do well in a traditional classroom, parents that are interested in homeschooling but don’t feel they can provide the best teaching, or children that are sick and want an alternative to homebound education.
If you are interested, tonight’s meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Florence County Library, 509 S. Dargan St.

I know one of the guys that are part of the group starting the school. Church planting friend.
I wish to God this had been an option for my son’s education!!! Traditional school CAN NOT possibly meet the needs of every child, because every child is different and has unique learning and/or emotional differences. It’s fundementally impossible to force a square peg through a round hole, and anyone in education who is honest about it will admit the flaws in the (special ed) system for those kids who don’t fit the “norm”, which only sets them up for failure. Life simply isn’t “one size fits all”….and school shouldn’t be either. KUDOS to whoever initiated this program!!!
