I went with the girls to tonight’s “Taste of the Symphony” event. I truly think this is one of the best events in Florence. The party is at Roseneath on Cherokee Road. They bring in an enormous tent and transform a normal lot into a glamorous soiree. You enter through a candlelit walk to the beautiful sound of the symphony. The tent is not an average tent, it is enormous and features chandeliers! There was a beautiful ice sculpture in the center of the tents. There are tables set up throughout, adorned with beautiful arrangements.

Around the perimeter of the tent there are local chefs from Florence set up. Each table has a different offering, and they are ALL delicious. We started with some fabulous fried Oysters by Randall Williams. From there we were served a delicious crabcake at the Griggs Floyd and Grantham table (I think). Dale Barth and Redbone Alley were next on my list, with a sashimi tuna wrap that was out of this world.
Victor’s Bistro was there with exquisite lobster and grits. Close competition was Nick Townsend and Carolina’s hospital with some divine shrimp and grits. Osborne‘s had some great stuffed mushrooms. Top Hat Teas had a delicious sweet treat. Sheriff Kenney Boone was working hard and personally serving at his station! There were many others there as well, but all of the socializing made it difficult for me to try every station. Plus, I had to focus in on the desserts that were strategically placed throughout the tent. The baklava was just fabulous.
There was even a band inside the tent to keep the atmosphere upbeat. It wasn’t hard to do with the fun crowd that was gathered.

All in all, I give this event an A plus. Good food, good people, good cause.

I agree! Kris and I had a BLAST! The guys of Stiefel Nicolaus had the most amazing oysters, and we loved Nick’s shrimp and grits. We also snagged two red velvet cupcakes as we were walking out and sat down on a bench to enjoy them in the candle-lit walk. It was a great way to end a great night!
I did not get the red velvet cupcakes and am jealous! It was such a nice night, I agree!
Thanks! I was in charge of chefs and will pass along!
