I went to school with Sammie. He was one of the nicest boys in school. I never met any of the others in his family. However, I do recall seeing the house and the pink caddy for as long as I remember. I moved away when I was 19 but every time I returned, I remember seeing that corner and the chickens and I knew I was "home". We drove 2nd Loop road coming from Columbia and passed that corner every trip. Sad she passed away and now I guess the corner is being cleaned up and something else will be there when I go home next. Over the years, so much has changed in Florence and so many loved ones have gone on. I am sure, Ms Ruby's family has a sad place in their hearts too for those memories you have written so well and shared with all. Looking forward to reading the remainder of your article. Thank you.
