Forget Kevin Bacon, Florence is now directly connected to CHRISTIAN BALE.
I had the nicest email from Melvin Purvis’ granddaughter a while back. For those of you that don’t know who Melvin Purvis was, he was the FBI agent that was responsible for the downfall of John Dillinger.
She told me that the movie Public Enemies will be coming out July 1, 2009. Bale will be playing Melvin Purvis. I think this means that Florence, SC is famous. (Don’t crash my dreams, please.) He actually came to Florence to get a feel for the area and our accents. (We have accents?)
I hope this will be playing at the Julia as well. It seems only fitting that a local theater play a movie about a local boy.
(If you really want to connect Florence to Kevin Bacon, it is easy. Christian Bale plays Melvin Purvis who is from Florence. Bale was in “Batman Begins” with Sarah Wateridge who was in “Where the Truth Lies” with Kevin Bacon. See? To take it one step further, you all know the Flossip and the Flossip emailed with Melvin Purvis’ granddaughter which means YOU are now connected to Kevin Bacon in five degrees.)
