There will be plenty to do in Florence if you are staying in town to celebrate the Fourth of July.
The weekend kicks off with Florence after Five on Friday afternoon. The Entertainers, one of the truly GREAT Beach Music Bands, will be playing starting at 5:30 until dusk. (Across from Central United Methodist Church, corner of Irby and Cheves Streets).
The “Spirit of Florence” will begin on July 4, 2009. I have never been to this event, but it looks awesome. It kicks off with a 5k run at 8 am and ends about 4 pm. From there everyone can head over to Memorial Stadium to watch the Redwolves play:

Oakdale Country Club will be hosting “Oakdale Loves America”
Oakdale Country Club in conjunction with Swamp Fox Fireworks & Tobacco will be hosting it’s 30th annual
“4th of July” fireworks display on Friday, July 3rd. A boat parade, around Lake Oakdale, get things started at approx. 9:00 and the fireworks display begins at approx. 9:15…dark. Bring your lounge chairs, blankets and the whole family. This is a free event! Oakdale CC is located at 3700 West Lake Drive, Florence, SC
While this isn’t published, there is also an impromptu fireworks show that will occur off of Third Loop– at least it has in recent years. It is put on by a family and cars line up on the side of Third Loop (Between Deerfield and Brigadoone) to watch the show.
I hope your Fourth is fabulous!
(Feel free to comment if I missed an event!)
