Florence Little Theater

in Culture and the Arts,Making Florence better

I am a HUGE fan of the Florence Little Theater. I don’t know how many of you realize how amazing it is that we have this vibrant theater and theatrical community. There are many towns the same size as Florence that can not pull off a full season of plays. I was thrilled beyond all belief to receive an email from Frankie Sullivan soliciting my help for the Theater. Honestly? I can not carry a tune in a bucket and I can not dance, so I am happy that there is SOME way that I can assist (other than NOT auditioning for a play).

The good thing is that YOU can also help. How? It is SO EASY! ALL you have to do is answer the following question.

What shows would you like to see Florence Little Theater produce in upcoming seasons?

Answer below, converse in the comments. I will compile the responses for the Theater to review. (Come on now, we don’t want to be embarrassed with one or two answers… we need REAL conversation.) To sweeten the deal, I will choose one of you to get a $10.00 gift certificate to a local retailer. (Local Retailers feel free to step up ;) )

I think any Disney musical would be really cool, whether it’s something like High School Musical or something based off of an animated movie. That way, it would attract adults and a lot of kids as well :) .

Since I am relatively new to the area, I don’t know what has already been done. We have been to a couple of productions and are impressed with the quality! We would love to see Guys & Dolls, Anne of Green Gables, Little Shop of Horrors, Little Women, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Bye Bye Birdie.

I would absolutely die of delight if they The Phantom of the Opera. Also, I think they’ve already done Beauty and the Beast, but I wish they would do it again because I didn’t get to see it!
We had the privilege of seeing Peter Pan earlier this year at the theater, and they did a wonderful job!
By the way, does anyone have a schedule for the new season for the theater? The schedule on the website is still last season.

I love reading all the suggestions. Guys & Dolls is the closing musical for this season…the end of April! Little Shop of Horrors was done a few years back and Bye Bye Birdie has also been a FLT performance. Not sure how long ago but Whitney Meade played Kim so she would know.

13 Whitney Meade July 28, 2009 at 4:27 pm

Oh gosh… Birdie was my sophomore year of high school, so that was April of 2002. That was such a fun show!!!
