Did you take advantage of tax free weekend? How much did you spend on school supplies. I think so far I am at about $50.00 for 2 kids… but I will have a few more things to buy.

I don’t ever even remember lists like that being sent home for me when I was a kid. Now kids have to have specific colors of notebooks, binders, etc. At my school, they didn’t care as long as you had something. We had some kids who didn’t even have that…

Oh now the list includes enough supplies for the entire class. Eight glue Sticks, 4 boxes of Kleenex, 2 boxes of baby wipes, 5 10oz or bigger hand sanitizer. That is a bit much for one child to use in a year. I’ve been told it goes into a community pile and to not bother writing names on any of it.

So YOU’RE the ONE who bought all the glue sticks! :)

Yeah William is right. Don’t bother buying anything nice- just get the cheapest stuff possible. It’s community school supplies for the class, so the box of crayons you spend a few dollars on, ends up just going into a big bin with all the other crayons.

That picture looks like my desk while I prepared for my sons first day back on Monday. I learned of the community pool of supplies on accident really when 2 years ago I walked into my sons class and in the corner of the room saw a tower of kleenex and hand sanitizers all with names on them, when I asked the teacher laughed said like my storage closet. I didn’t laugh, spent good money on specific things, hate those cheap crayons, so I bought the good ones, not anymore!
