Welcome to all readers from the Morning News! Thank you for checking out my website. If it is your first time here, feel free to read through all of my archives by using the “Archives” feature on the far right sidebar. You may also want to check out my links page, there are a lot of great Florence businesses linked there. There is an events calendar with some ideas of fun things coming up in Florence. You can also friend me on Facebook..Here are some of the posts I consider to be my greatest hits:
You may be wondering why I write this website. So often all we hear about a community is the bad… murders, shootings, stabbing, wrecks, swine flu, etc. I worry that it makes us forget to look for the positive, to be excited about the community that we live in. I promised myself I would try to help make Florence better, and I hope that in some small way I am.
We all need to step out of our comfort zone, and I have really challenged myself over the past year. Click to see a photo post that encapsulates a little bit of what I am trying to do.
I have learned to explore more, to turn off the beaten path.
I see a garden being created with someone’s bare hands:

I promote local businesses so we have less of this:

I take time to notice the artwork of others:

I know that McLeod means more to Florence than just one mile:

I see that there is progress being made:

and progress that has been made:

This community is filled with people that are full of passion:

And people that sacrifice:
I still want to find out more about this “castle”:

Sometimes beauty is in the smallest detail:

We are a town with picket fences:

and patriotism:
We have our work cut out for us. There is a lot left to do here. We need to talk, promote, and shop local. We need to plant more tress and have less litter. There needs to be more “Open” signs and less “For Sale or Rent.”
We have come a long way since Henry was here:

I know that there are obstacles in our way:

But, I think we can do it. I look forward to seeing the kind of Florence I know we can create.
Remember:

Don’t let one tree block your view of the beauty:

However, you will have to leave Florence and head to Coward for Hog Jowl Biscuits. I have not yet seen them advertised here. (See the wonderful things I will tell you?)

(Come back tomorrow. I think I finally have the “Where in Florence was the Flossip?” that will stump everyone!)
I also ask that if you think you know who Flossip is, to please not say. I realize that people will suspect and guess, but it has been proven that part of the fun is in the mystery– so please keep the mystery alive. Thanks!

Fabulous. Simply fabulous. Thank you for bringing such positivity to our community.
Love love love!
Flossip, I love the way you tied in the pictures with your message. Great representation of local flavor! Love it!
NICE JOB!!! I’m impressed. I really am. May need to consider a similar “service” for the fine folks of NE Cola. We shall see…
Hi! I stumbled across your blog on SCiway. I have really enjoyed reading through some of your posts. If you don’t mind, I’d like to add you to my blogroll. We come to Florence each spring for the high school boys tennis tournament. That new tennis facility you have is wonderful! Looking forward to learning more about Florence so we can get the most of our stay when we come.
