This has been a tight year for a lot of local businesses. We lost Michaels, Shanes Rib Shack, Atlanta Bread Company, Planet Arf… amongst others.
I know it is early to be planning Christmas buying, but shopping early eases the strain on my budget. This year I am going to challenge myself to try to buy the majority of gifts from local retailers. You can get an idea of most local retailers from my links list.
I will be designing a button for the Flossip’s Christmas Challenge and you can add it to your own webpage. Look for that soon!
Here are two highlights:
MIlls Brown Ink. Mills Brown is in high school and knocking it out of the park with her awesome t-shirts. I see her shirts throughout the state. What a remarkable Florentine! I can think of a few people on my list that will get these great t-shirts.
Tomlinson’s Wholesale. This is almost always on my list of places to shop for Christmas gifts. From blenders to books… they have it all.
There will also be opportunities for local businesses to host a post. Email me if you are interested.

Thanks for this post. I usually spend a big chunk of money at Amazon.com because I hate the holiday shopping crowds, but I’m going to make a point this year to buy local as much as possible and to start early to make it easier on myself.
And I LOVE Mills Brown’s t-shirts! I need to head over to Salty’s to get one for myself!
Does anyone know why Shane’s closed?
THANK YOU! I know it’s been said many times before, but I really can not tell you how big of an impact that shopping locally has on our economy. When you sit down and look at the numbers it is truly amazing and inspiring how big of an impact we can have if we were to all shop locally whenever possible. I think your “Christmas Challenge” is a great idea and hope that many of your readers will participate. I know that I will. Thanks for the challenge.
Wait, Michael’s closed? You mean the Italian restaurant across from Roger’s on 2nd Loop?
