Summer Camps 2010 in Florence, SC

I know it is getting a little late to post about summer camps for this summer, somehow the end of school just appeared! I am also including a few for rising 7th and 8th graders as I understand that is a difficult time to find an appropriate place for kids.

  • Francis Marion Baseball Camp–> The annual camp, for children ages 7-12, will be held June 21-25 and July 12-16 from 9 a.m. until noon each day. Conducted by Francis Marion head baseball coach Art Inabinet and members of the Patriot baseball team, the camps will stress learning basic game strategy and making the most of individual skills.
  • FMU Activities Camp–>Francis Marion University will hold its annual FMU Activities Camp 2010, June 1-25. The camp for boys and girls, ages 5-12, is divided into four sessions and runs weekdays from 8 a.m. until noon.

    Each of the five-day sessions, June 7-11, June 14-18, and June 21-25, is $65 per camper. The cost of the one four-day session, June 1-4, is $52.

  • Patriot Soccer Camp–> The Francis Marion University men’s soccer program will hold its Patriot Soccer Academy Residential Camp, July 29-31.

    The camp is for boys ages 14 to 18. The cost of this camp will be $295 for those staying on campus and $225 for commuter campers.

  • FMU Softball Camp–>The camp, for girls ages 8-18, will include a day camp portion (ages 8-11) and an overnight component (ages 12-18). The cost of the day camp will be $200 per camper and the overnight camp will be $300 per camper.
  • FMU Summer Volleyball Camp–> July 8-11. The camp is for players entering the sixth through 12th grades. The cost is $285 per player for residential campers, and $185 for commuting campers. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt.
  • Science South Summer Day Camps for Kids–>NEW! This year we’ve added camp for our junior scientists, come bring your little Einstein to join in the fun! The camp is for rising 1st-3rd grade students. Crazy Chemistry, Forensic Frenzy, Biology 101, and Extreme Engineering are for rising 4 th-8th grade students. The cost for one weeklong camp session is $175.00 per child. This includes all camp materials and a mid-morning snack. All campers must bring their own lunch. You may drop off as early as 8:00 am and pick up no later than 2:00 pm.
  • Florence YMCA Summer Camp –> The Florence Family YMC is offering summer day camp with all the special activities that make summer fun! This camp is for children entering K-5 thru 6th grade. Hours are from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Camp runs all summer long in weekly sessions. Activities include swimming, crafts, games, sports, field trips, etc. Summer 2010 offers a variety of weekly themes with corresponding activities and field trips. You can choose to come all summer or select certain weeks. Here is a link to a variety of offerings at the YMCA this summer.
  • Camp Success at FD Tech–> Rising 7th and 8th graders. Campers will spend the week at the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing & Technology on Florence-Darlington Technical College’s campus exploring careers in engineering and technology in state-of-the-art facilities. Campers will work in teams lead by subject area experts/mentors and participate in activities that they will remember for years to come. Exploring a wide range of programs such as Engineering, Transportation, Manufacturing, Industrial Technologies, and Mechatronics. Discovery Workshops may include activities in fields such as Engineering, Engineering Graphics, Computer-Aided Design, Robotics, Mechatronics, Building Construction, Electronics and Automotive Engineering.
  • Mcleod Activity Center Sizzling Safari Summer Camp (pdf)–> The pdf is the only link I have, but it contains a lot of information.
  • FBC Music & Art Summer Day Camp–> For students who have completed grades 1-6. June 14-17 9 am to 1:30 pm daily. How to contact: 843-662-9451 or register online. $25 registration fee includes camp T-shirt, lunch, instrument rentals. Choose from several music tracks including bells, percussion, guitar and others. Limited to 80 students, so call soon!
  • Kids Creations at Florence Museum Great information– also a pdf.
  • Young Chef’s Academy–> PDF Brochure. Camps run Tuesday-Thursday 9:00-12:00 noon. Cost is $135.00 per session. A $50.00 nonfundable deposit is
    required to hold your seat. Siblings can join the SAME SESSION for $100.00. Register for 2 or more

  • British Soccer Camps (ESAB) and (Florence YMCA)
    The ESAB Session is 7/26/2010 – 7/30/2010. There are many options for all ages. The YMCA session is 6/7/2010 – 6/11/2010.
  • Florence Redwolves Summer Camp –> Another PDF. June 7th-June 10th. Cost $80.00. Ages 6-15.
  • Florence Elite Soccer Camp–> PDF Brochure. June 21-25
    The Florence Elite Soccer Camp will focus on the technical, tactical, and physical aspects of the game of soccer. Special attention will be placed on the tactical development of each player within a team setting through game like situations. The camp will also emphasize the values and character developed through soccer, which apply not only to the game but to every area of life. For ages U10-U18.
  • Nike Sports Camp (Tennis)–> Francis Marion camp is for juniors ages 5-17 and includes a general skills (ages 8-17), Fun and Fumdamentals (ages 5-8) and High School program (ages 13-17.)
    The Fun and Fundamental sessions are designed for players aged 5-7. Fun and Fundamental sessions are a positive introduction to tennis fundamentals and low key match play situations for younger campers. Many of these programs will use short court teaching. These sessions are AM only and will be run on 6/146/18.
    The June 14-18 session will also offer an all skills program suitable for all skill levels ages 8-17.
    The July 12-16 session offers both an All Skills and a High School program, designed for players 13 and above who are looking to make their High School tennis teams or move up their High School team ladders.

    Florence Boys & Girls Club just started second session last Monday; it lasts through July 16. Then session 3 runs July 19-August 13. Call 662-1471 for more details!

    Swamp Fox Junior Soccer Camp
    St. Anthony School and Soccer is hosting the “Swamp Fox Junior Soccer Camp,” a week-long camp for area youth in upcoming grades 1-8. The dates are July 20-24 from 8 a.m. until noon at St. Anthony School.
    Francis Marion’s Head Women’s Soccer Coach, Joel Person, will coach the participants. The cost of the camp is $100 and the registration deadline is July 10.
