Its almost that time of year where I start posting incessantly about the Pecan Festival. I LOVE the Pecan Festival. I plan to run in the “Run Like a Nut” this year... currently debating between the 5k and the 10k. You have PLENTY of time to train for the 5k if you start today. I recommend the “Couch to 5k” program.
I am considering the 5k because Flossip boy has expressed interest in running and he might want to do it with me. That would be very cool.
However, the 10k would be better for my training purposes– I NEED a goal. Otherwise I get all lazy and don’t do anything.
Lets all run like nuts together!
| Run like a Nut is 3 races. We are offering a half marathon, 10k, 5k and 1 mile fun run for kids. The courses are very flat and fast as it winds mostly through median divided, established neighborhoods near downtown Florence. The run is part of the Downtown Development Corporation’s Annual Pecan Festival. The presenting sponsors this year are Palmetto Infusion Therapy and Fitness Forum. The race kicks off at the Fitness Forum, 2 blocks from downtown, so the participants can use the locker room facilities and walk directly to the festival once the race is concluded. There is no fee for the festival. T-shirts guaranteed to all pre-registered runners and awards to top 3 in each age group. | |||

Being new to the area, I want to do anything I can to bring growth to the area, I just signed on to Volunteer for the Pecan Festival. I look forward to meeting all of you!!
Lots of ACST people that I work with do this race. I don’t think there is a USC game that day, so I will probably come out and cheer them all on along the course.
Does anyone know if you are allowed to run with a jogging stroller?
I LOVE the Pecan Festival and have “walked” the run several times. Maybe I should try the couch to 5k program this year and actually run it!!!
I like this race. I did the 10K for the past two years (and blogged about it), and I’m doing it this year, but I’m running the half marathon
. I’m a distance girl! I really recommend the 10K for this too, it’s a great race for that distance. Plus the Pecan Festival is there too. I do hope they have a different color shirt for the run this year though, it’s a nice tech shirt but it’s white and has looked the same for the past two years (of course, it’s huge on me anyway, LOL. Wish they had a kid’s size!).
The prizes last year were really neat pint glasses, and they had a little awards ceremony. Plus, you get great parking for the Pecan Festival. I plan to load up on some Thai House that afternoon to replenish myself after my 13.1!
