in Things to do in Florence, SC

Every so often I like to take a moment to THANK YOU FOR READING!!!

Thank you!  I love your comments, your google searches that bring you here, your emails… everything.

This site is quite a labor of love for me, done on the side of my real job (I have a great boss) and takes a lot of time.  My availability varies depending on the real job.  For a long time I did this without it bringing in income for me, but at some point it became clear that I couldn’t keep up the pace without making changes.  Now, I have a fabulous relationship with Palmetto First Federal Credit Union and the  Francis Marion Performing Arts Center.  Other recent advertisers are Lee Burris– he can fix or build just about anything in your home; Amy McCalman-- a wonderful Florence, SC realtor; and Denis Davis– the best local DJ for your party!  It is because of these advertisers that this website is possible. ( I get a lot of emails wanting a business promoted– advertising is the best way for that to happen.  I do accept limited advertisers at this point, I apologize in advance if I can’t accept your ad at this time.)

What do I do?  Mainly– I try to tell you about the fun and exciting things about Florence.  I don’t post every event because I can’t– but I try to highlight interesting events or businesses that catch my eye.  Mainly I hope to encourage people to get out of the box– do something new– something different.

Florence IS what you make of it.  Every day I see complaints on facebook about hating it here or complaining there isn’t enough to do.  I don’t agree and I won’t pretend to agree.  When I started this website I quickly realized there is A LOT to do– but sometimes you may have to look around.

I also review my favorite events and places around town.  If you want me to check something out, let me know.  The Pee Dee Foodie also covers local places to eat, and he does a fabulous job with his detailed write ups.

My two most popular posts are these two:

Mrs. Ruby didn’t come to Florence, Florence Came to Mrs. Ruby

and

the Rumors, Openings, and Closings post.  I try to update this post, but the comments are AMAZING.

Also, here is another summary post I did back in 2009.

If you have read that far– I would love any comments about what you enjoy about the site or what you think could be improved!

Remember to tell them you read about it on theflossip.com!! Thanks for reading!
