FLORENCE,SC (eNewsletter) – The Dr. Eddie Floyd – Florence Tennis Center and the City of Florence will host the 2012 Florence Open $25k USTA Pro Circuit event October 20-28. We also need volunteers to help with this event. We will need people to drive players to and from hotels and the Florence airport as well as serve in various service capacities throughout the event. Contact Ernie James at president@TheFTA.com to let him know when you can help with this event.

Saturday, October 20th – Community Day
Time: 10am to 2pm
Event: Community Day
Description: This event will include tennis themed games and activities to introduce new players to tennis as well as allow veteran players a chance to test their skills with advanced stations. This is a free event for the whole community and will include complimentary food & beverages.

Sunday, October 21st – Coaching Development Day
Time: 10am
Event: 1st Round Qualifying matches begin (32 first round matches)
Description: 32 players will vie for 8 wildcard spots into the main draw of the Florence Open.
Cost: Free

Time: 1pm to 3pm
Event: Community Coaches Workshop
Description: This workshop will be for community center employees, high school coaches, P.E. teachers, parents of tennis players, and anyone interested in coaching a Junior Team Tennis team. The event will conclude with a question and answer portion with USTA national coaches and professional players. Contact Ed Sprenger at tournament@TheFTA.com to sign up for this event.

Monday, October 22nd – Pro-Am Day
Time: 10am
Event: Round of 16 qualifying matches begin
Cost: Free

Time: 5:30pm
Event: Pro-Am
Description: This event will allow up to 16 local players the opportunity to sign up and play in an exciting round robin. Each local amateur will be paired with a female professional player. Complimentary food and beverages provided for the players.
Cost: $100 entry fee – spectators free

Tuesday, October 23rd – Family Night – Opening Ceremonies
Time: 10am
Event: Final round of qualifying matches
Description: The final eight matches will be played to determine the players that will move into the main draw.
Cost: Free
Time: 6pm to 7pm
Event: Player Party
Description: Party for players, sponsors, and local dignitaries.

Time: 7pm
Event: Opening Ceremonies – Feature main draw match
Description: This is the night you don’t want to miss! Opening ceremonies will include incredible atmosphere that will set the tone for the rest of the week! Watch as one of The Florence Tennis Centers very own players begins her quest for the championship!

Wednesday, October 24th – 10 and Under Day
Time: 10am
Event: Opening rounds of singles and doubles begin
Cost: Free

Time: 11am to 2pm
Event: Pro Players will be visiting local elementary schools

Time: 5:30pm to 5:45pm
Event: 10 and Under exhibition match on stadium court
Cost: Free

Time: 5:45pm
Event: Feature Night Match – Doubles
Cost: Free

Time: 7pm
Event: Post match party at Redbone Alley
Description: Come to Redbone Alley for some social time with area tennis enthusiasts and some of the players while enjoying specials from Redbone’s food and beverage menu’s.

Thursday, October 25th – FTA Day
Time: 10am
Event: Round of 16 matches begin for singles
Cost: Free

Time: 5:30pm – 6:30pm
Event: FTA Member Appreciation night at the Florence Open
Description: FTA members will enjoy complimentary cocktail hour and meet and greet with players before the evening feature match. FTA members will enjoy preferred courtside seating for the evening match.
Cost: Open to FTA members only

Friday, October 26th Quarterfinal Day

Event: Quarterfinal matches begin

Event: Doubles Final begins

Sunday, October 28th – Finals
Time: 1pm
Event: Closing Ceremonies & Singles Finals
Description: Closing Ceremonies follows immediately by the Singles Final at 1:10pm. Trophy Presentation will begin at conclusion of Finals match.
