It’s time to meet one of those New Year resolutions – go see a show at Francis Marion University’s Performing Arts Center.

The next phase of its second season gets underway this month and by the time it concludes in late May there will have been 18 performances ranging from Broadway musicals to bluegrass, folk and gospel.

Single event tickets for the shows in January and February are on sale now and the Flex Package is still available which allows you to purchase tickets for four or more performances before they go on sale to the general public.

The first show is the Glenn Miller Orchestra which will perform on Tuesday, January 15. The group is the most popular and sought after big band in the world today for both concert and wing dance engagements. It was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently since, touring an average of 300 live dates a year all around the world.

On Friday, January 25 at 7:30 p.m. the Center will present The Cooke Book: The Music of Sam Cooke. Considered by many to be the definitive soul singer, Sam Cooke blended sensuality and spirituality, sophistication and soul, movie idol looks and gospel singer poise. Some of his U.S. Top 40 hits include “You Send Me,” “Cupid,” “Twistin’ the Night Away,” and “Wonderful World” Chicago native Darrian Ford will recapture the music and relive the magic in this dynamite tribute to the man who invented soul.

The rest of the season includes The Travelin’ McCourys, the latest incarnation of the most awarded band in the history of bluegrass – The Del McCoury Band – and feature Del McCoury’s two sons Ronnie and Rob; Broadway shows and dance groups.

Tickets for the shows may be purchased at www.fmupac.org, via telephone at (843) 661-4444, and at the FMU Performing Arts Center Box Office. Telephone and personal ticket sales are available Monday through Friday between 12-5 p.m. Subject to availability, tickets may be available for purchase at the door.
