Homecoming at Francis Marion!

If you are a Francis Marion University Alum or just a supporter of the university next week – Monday, February 11 through Sunday, February 17 is packed with activities for everybody during homecoming festivities.
Of course there are the usual alumni events such as the various alumni awards, but there are lots of things for the general public as well highlighted by the Blue Dogs concert on Friday night, February 15 at the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center.
There will be a reception for alumni and friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at the PAC. Tickets for the reception and concert are $20 and include heavy hors d’oeuvres, 1 drink ticket. A cash bar will be available.

The men’s and women’s basketball teams play double headers on both Thursday, February 14 and Saturday, February 21. And the baseball and softball teams play on Saturday, February 16 and Sunday, February 17. If you haven’t been to the new Sparrow Stadium you need to go.
On Saturday homecoming activities continue at the university including alumni basketball games, a parade, a free Patriot Fest Picnic Lunch, a silent auction, women’s and men’s basketball games and Hall of Fame induction.

Tuesday, February 12
6:00 pm School of Education Alumni Awards Reception, The Cottage

Thursday, February 14
5:30 pm Patriots Women’s Basketball vs North Georgia College & State University, Smith University Center Gym
7:30 pm Patriots Basketball vs North Georgia College & State University, Smith University Center Gym

Friday, February 15
7:45 am School of Business Alumni Awards Breakfast, FMU Performing Arts Center
6:00 pm Patriots on Fire Bonfire & Pep Rally, Baptist Collegiate Ministries Building Circle
6:30 pm Reception for Alumni and Friends, FMU Performing Arts Center
8:00 pm Blue Dogs Homecoming Concert, FMU Performing Arts Center
Tickets are $20 and include heavy hors d’oeuvres, 1 drink ticket, and concert admission. A cash bar will be available.

Saturday, February 16
10:30 am Women’s Alumni Basketball Game, Smith University Center Gym
10:30 am Campus Parade, Travels down Alumni Drive & ends at Smith University Center
11:00 am Men’s Alumni Basketball Game, Smith University Center Gym
11:30 am PATRIOT FEST, Smith University Center Lawn
1:00 pm Silent Auction Begins, Smith University Center Gym – North End
1:00 pm Patriots Baseball vs Seton Hill, Griffin Athletic Complex
1:30 pm Patriots Women’s Basketball vs Young Harris College, Smith University Center Gym

Hall of Fame Induction of Gerald Griffin
Gerald Griffin was the FMU Baseball Coach from 1972-2000. He served as Athletic Director from 1973-2000. He boasts 730 career victories and 22 seasons with 20-plus wins. He led FMU Athletics through the transition from NAIA to NCAA and grew the athletic program from 7 to 14 teams.

3:30 pm Patriots Basketball vs Young Harris College, Smith University Center Gym
Halftime includes a presentation of FMU’s Homecoming Court. The Silent Auction concludes at the end of halftime.

The 2013 Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at the end of the Men’s Basketball game!

4:00 pm Patriots Baseball vs Seton Hill, Griffin Athletic Complex

Sunday, February 17
All games will take place at the Griffin Athletic Complex.
1:00 pm Patriots Softball vs Belmont Abbey
1:00 pm Patriots Baseball vs Seton Hill
3:00 pm Patriots Softball vs Belmont Abbey

I really wanted to go hear the Blue Dogs this weekend, but my scheduled didn’t allow it :( I hope this was a great event!
