Trinity Collegiate School is hosting a FREE college planning seminar for students and parents tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. This is open to the community. They have some great speakers listed, I would definitely plan to go if college is in the near future for you or your children.

Directions to Trinity Collegiate School: From I-20, take exit 137 (Hwy 340) which is 3 miles west of
Florence. Travel north on Hwy. 340 toward Darlington for 1.5 miles, and turn left onto Hoffmeyer Road
(Hwy 19) at the traffic light. A BP station is on the left, and a sign to Trinity Collegiate School is at the
intersection. Go 2.4 miles, and you will see the school on the right.

Are you planning on going to college? Come see Francis Marion University and over 50 other college representatives from across the Carolinas at the Pee Dee Area College Fair, one of the largest fairs in our area.

Mini financial aid sessions will be held during the evening college fair.

Some of the colleges represented are: Vanderbilt, Florence-Darlington Tech, USC, Clemson, Wofford, The Art Institutes, Coker, College of Charleston, Campbell, Charleston Southern, Presbyterian College, and of course, Francis Marion University.

Did you take advantage of tax free weekend? How much did you spend on school supplies. I think so far I am at about $50.00 for 2 kids… but I will have a few more things to buy.

There is an article in the paper about a meeting tonight for the “first statewide virtual charter school.”

On one hand it sounds really awkward, but on the other hand it has appeal. I can envision that it might work for kids that don’t do well in a traditional classroom, parents that are interested in homeschooling but don’t feel they can provide the best teaching, or children that are sick and want an alternative to homebound education.

If you are interested, tonight’s meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Florence County Library, 509 S. Dargan St.
